New Axles Installed

Posted by Don  Published in Suspension

I dropped off the replacement axle seals and new Moser axles at Jim’s this morning.  The axle assembly will be ready for pick up Sunday afternoon.  Jim did a very nice job removing the outside axle stabilizer shock mount brackets – smooth.  By the way, Jim’s place of business is known as Jim’s Performance; I’ve included his contact info [...]

Rear Axle Update

Posted by Don  Published in Suspension

The new 3.55 gear set is now installed and setup in the center section of the rear axle assembly.  One of the used 5-lug axles I acquired to upgrade the stock 4-lug variety that came with the unit had a galled bearing face surface and really couldn’t be used.  I ordered new 5-lug Moser axles from DTS today that should kick the axle assembly [...]

The 2.73 gears were probably the first on [...]

You guessed it … this bad boy is Chevrolet powered.

After considering what seemed like countless engine options, i.e., Ford crate engines and even a West Virginia find – an old Ford Cleveland 351 bored and stroked to 427 short block with 500 HP potential … to 450 HP Chevrolet crate engines plus a serious look [...]

Don’s Opening Remarks …

Posted by Don  Published in General

Welcome to Don’s Street Beasts 1933 Ford Vicky replica car blog and ground up build journal … the idea here is to keep the folks (that are interested in this sort of thing anyway) up to date on where the car is on its completion curve.  It won’t take long to discover that it’s not very far along at all yet but my street [...]
